Hubert Szafranski

Crystal Lake, Illinois,Hubert Szafranski, 72, of Crystal Lake, died July 31, 2010, after losing his courageous battle with cancer at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. He was born July 13, 1938 in Belgium to Josef and Gertrude (nee Nawrth) Szafranski. He married the love of his life, Janina Wawrzyniak, on September 26, 1964 in Chicago. He enjoyed taking care of his land, golfing and enjoying the great outdoors, especially his back porch. He loved his family, Hubert had 45 wonderful years of marriage and his daughter and the grandchildren were the apple of his eye. When he was eighteen, Hubert immigrated to the United States and immediately enlisted in the Army. He was proud to be an American and embraced the country he had grown to love. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Linda (Patrick) Carpenter; two grandchildren, Joseph and Gabrielle and one brother, Helmut Szafranski. He was preceded in death by his parents. The visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 3 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave.(Route 176), Crystal Lake, and will continue on Wednesday, August 4 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Hubert?s name to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, Palliative Care Center, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington IL 60010.
