Crystal Lake, Illinois,Ilma L. Braatz (nee Hoehne), 100 of Crystal Lake, Illinois passed away on October 22, 2009 at her home in Crystal Lake. She was born March 5, 1909 in Greenwood, Wisconsin to Carl and Emma Hoehne (nee Runkel). Mrs. Braatz enjoyed a lifelong career as a registered nurse, graduating from St. Mary?s School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota in 1931, where, as a student nurse, she met and made rounds with William and Charles Mayo. During her career, she established and ran a maternity home for expectant mothers and also established and ran a 1940?s style assisted living facility, both in Greenwood, Wisconsin. In the 1950?s, she worked as a hospital nurse at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. After moving to Milwaukee in 1959, she worked at Milwaukee County Hospital. She completed her nursing career as a public health nurse, working for the City of Milwaukee until her retirement in 1972. Mrs. Braatz and her husband, Leonard, enjoyed their retirement together, wintering in Florida and summering in Crystal Lake and Chetek, Wisconsin until Leonard?s death in 1983. Her survivors include her children Bill (Karen) Enockson of Barrington, Illinois, Joe (Beverly) Enockson of Palatine, Illinois, and Alice Braatz (the late Floyd) Gustafson of Crystal Lake, Illinois; step-daughter Virginia Braatz (Ronald) Jacobson of Crystal Lake; grandchildren Linn K. Enockson, Kurt R. Enockson, Amy L. Enockson, Michael (Laura) Jacobson, Steven (Tiffany) Jacobson, Jenifer Jacobson (Jody) Keck, James (Kelly) Jacobson, and Sarah Riemer (Damon) Von; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Linn S. Enockson, her second husband Leonard R. Braatz, son Ernst K. Enockson, step-son Glenn Braatz, step-daughter Sharon Riemer (nee Braatz), and grandson Eric J. Enockson. Burial will be at a later date in Lyons Cemetery in Burlington, Wisconsin.
