Irene Stevens

Services for Irene Anna Stevens (nee Krieger) 96, of Barrington Hills and formerly of Affton, Missouri, will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Born September 25, 1912 in St. Louis, MO, Irene passed away peacefully September 8, 2009 at her home. Burial will be private in Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago. Mrs. Stevens was a homemaker and in her younger years was a piano teacher. She was a member of the Eden United Church of Christ in Affton, MO, where she played the organ. Irene enjoyed music, gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children Robert (Jennie) Stevens of Villa Park and James (Judy) Stevens of Barrington Hills; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Jill, Erin, Shannon, Kelly, Charles and Christopher; and eleven loving great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell George Stevens; sister, Dorothy Vogt; and brother, Irwin Krieger. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 5040 N.
