September 26, 1978 — January 24, 2022

Davenport Lake Zurich

Jacklyn Florence Ortega, 43, of Cary passed away, Monday, January 24, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on September 26, 1978 to the late John “Jack” P. and Cynthia (Kus) McCarthy in Maywood, IL.

Jackie grew up in Edison Park and graduated from Resurrection High School, class of 1996.  She attended Triton University where she received a degree in nursing.   She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois and was currently working on her Master’s degree.   She was a very dedicated nurse and had a passion for her job and was able to work in multiple hospitals using her gifts in many different areas.

A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Jackie loved well and was “all about” her family.  Her love for them was unconditional and she accepted you for you.   Jackie was smart and witty and was not afraid to tell you the truth.   She will be extremely missed but her heart will live on in all who knew her.

Jackie is survived by her husband of almost 19 years, Oscar Ortega; children, Matthew, Mikey and Madilyn; her mother, Cynthia McCarthy; her sister, Kelly Dzierzanowski; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, from 4:30pm until 8:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.   Mass will be Saturday, January 29, at 11:30am at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 First Street, Cary.
