James G. Abbey, 79, of Barrington, IL, was born on May 18, 1942, to the late James and Marion (Werli) Abbey; and passed away on January 26, 2022. James was the loving husband of Rose Marie (Sikorski) for 51 years; cherished father of Melissa E. (Sean) Dougan, Jason C. (Trisha) Abbey, and Douglas W. (Erin) Abbey; adored grandfather of Payton, Cade, Lilly, Kathleen, and Elizabeth; dear brother of Janet K. (Rich) Veile; and uncle and friend of many.

Jim earned the rank of Eagle Scout,  graduated from Northwestern University with a Business Degree and later served in the U.S. Air Force (Air National Guard) for 22 years before retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. During retirement he volunteered at the PIMA Air and Space Museum in Tucson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 9:00am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, IL.
