James "Jim" Carroll
August 10, 1928 — January 16, 2017
James Edward Carroll “Jim”, 88, of Elgin, was born on August 10, 1928 in Chicago to James and Josephine (nee Kopfer) Carroll. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Elgin.
Jim loved his family, dogs, driving a school bus, cowboy songs and the Wizard of Oz. In his spare time, he enjoyed EAA and travelling. Jim worked for United Airlines in aircraft maintenance at Midway and O’Hare airports until his retirement in 1987. He was loved and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Janice (nee Wagenknecht) Carroll; his children, Jeannette (Dick) Hernacki, Pat (Debbie) Carroll, Sharon (Kevin) Hall, Todd (Michelle) Carroll, Mike Carroll, Bernadean Carroll, and Kelly Carroll; his grandchildren, Tammy, Pat, Jr., Renee, Chris, Jennifer, Hannah, Emma, and Tiffany; and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tim Carroll; and his parents.
Memorial visitation, 1pm until time of memorial service at 4:30pm, Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
