James E. Herrlin, 88 year resident of Barrington, Illinois passed away March 20, 2020 in his home, with surviving long-time friend, Elizabeth M. Young present.
The son of Edwin Magnus Herrlin & Selma Lolita Landwer, James E. Herrlin was born at (Barrington General Hospital) on December 1, 1931. He married Dolores “Dede” on November 15, 1952. Survived by son, Steven A. Herrlin (girlfriend, Jessie Gottschall); daughter, Jennifer J. (Herrlin) Truax and son-in-law, Danny M. Truax. Preceeding him in death were his parents and ex-wife, “Dede” Herrlin.
James (Jim) started working at a very young age to help his widowed mom with household expenses. After graduating Barrington H.S. and serving in the Navy, Jim opened Herrlin/Studio photography. He later qualified for his Private Pilot's license & thereafter acquired his Real Estate license. He excelled for 50+ years as a Pro/Commercial Photographer, shooting architectural, advertising, aerials, weddings & forensics. He was an active member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and enjoyed sharing photography knowledge & techniques.
Jim was always “on-the-run” & active in his passions including: photography/processing/printing/framing; flying single engine, fixed-wing aircraft; misc. building trades; furniture & collectibles; farmland ownership; and friend & family time. He was also known by family and loved ones for his kind-heartedness to those in need.
Interment by Davenport Family Funeral Homes at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, Illinois. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, a graveside memorial service will take place in the Summer of 2020 (to-be-determined). For more information call: Davenport at (847) 381-3411.
