James E. Holder, 73 of Lakewood

Born Nov. 18, 1937 in Scottsville, Kentucky, to James and Cotelle (nee Motley) Holder, he passed away Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 at his home in Lakewood.

Jim is survived by his wife Gretchen (nee Gutknecht),whom he married Dec. 10,1961, his children Susan (Richard) Masterson and James (Julie) Holder, grandchildren Bridget and Brook Masterson, and Kevin, Stephanie and Daniel Holder, and brother John (Mary) Holder.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim is a graduate of Indiana University, Kelly School of Business, BS and Loyola University, MBA.  He was a veteran of the Army.  Jim was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights and Crystal Lake, an active member of National Ski Patrol for 40 years and a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge for 52 years.

James enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 4 – 9 p.m. Thursday Oct. 13 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake.  A memorial service will be held 11a.m Friday, Oct. 14 at Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, 8505 Church St, Crystal Lake.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church or The American Diabetes Association 30 N. Michigan Ave, Suite 2015, Chicago IL 60602
