James “Jay” Joseph Finnigan, Jr., 48, of Crystal Lake, passed away on January 15, 2025 after a long battle with diabetes. Born on August 29, 1976, in Berwyn, IL, to James and Sandra Finnigan, Sr., Jay lived a life full of fun, creativity, and love for those around him.
Jay will be remembered as a goofy, caring, and selfless soul who always put others before himself. He had an adventurous spirit, whether he was camping, cooking up something delicious, or diving into a new creative project. A true jack of all trades, Jay was an excellent painter, gardener, and DJ who brought music and joy wherever he went.
Above all, Jay adored “his girlz” and cherished every moment with his daughters, Clairissa (David Russell) Finnigan, Gianna (Derrick) O’Connor, and Julia (Christian Izquierdo) Finnigan. His unwavering love and support for them were unmatched. Jay is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Shawn Hacker; his father, James Finnigan, Sr.; siblings, Brian (Ivana) Finnigan, Shawn (Elyse) Finnigan, and Kelly (Johnny) Finnigan-Lathrop; as well as many nieces, cousins, and dear friends who will deeply miss his generous heart and unforgettable presence.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Sandra.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a service at 6:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
