James Arthur Kampert

James Arthur Kampert, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

James was born in Elgin, IL on January 11, 1951. He was, first and foremost, an actor and was also known for his beautiful singing voice. He received an undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University and his master’s degree from Illinois State University. James worked in the record business after graduating before starting his career at the Goodman Theater in Chicago and the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera. He later went on to become the Operations Manager at the Paramount Theater in Aurora and the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his siblings, Karen (Terry) Unkelhaeuser, Robert (Susan) Kampert, and Kathy Fredin; nieces and nephews, Ellen Richards, Frank Fisk, Barbara (James) Champlin, Melodie (Marty) Bailey, Samantha (Ryan) Casey, and David Fredin; great nieces and nephews Jack Unkelhaeuser, Preston Bailey, and Eva and Liam Casey; and dear friend, Barbara Akan.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorraine Kampert; nephew, Michael Unkelhaeuser; and great nephew, Colin Champlin.

Services will be held at a later date.
