James V. Luehr, 71, of Woodstock, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 after a courageously fought battle with cancer.
He was born May 3, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of the late Vincent and Edna (nee Ritzenthaler) Luehr.
James will be remembered for being a sports fanatic, an outdoorsman and fisherman. He loved taking photographs, working with computers, and watching movies. Above all, James was a wonderful husband and cherished father and grandfather.
In addition to his loving wife of 28 years, Iride, he is survived by his children, Matthew (Gabrielle) Luehr, Stephanie (Robert) Purcell, Ismael (Patricia) Garcia, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Albers; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Jackson, Andrew James Luehr, Bridget Purcell, Cecilia Purcell, Eileen Purcell, Alonso Garcia, Jeremy Bolanos, Emilio Lopez, and Camila Iride Lopez; and his great-granddaughter, Abigail Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-mother, Lucille Luehr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. Interment will be held at a later date.
