James Lundstrom

October 16, 1941 — March 13, 2015

James “Ludy” Lundstrom, of Barrington Hills, passed away at his home on March, 13, 2015. He was born in Rockford, IL, to Folke David and Linnea (nee Johnson) Lundstrom on October 16, 1941, where he attended Lincoln Junior and Rockford East High Schools. He graduated from Rockford College in 1960.
Jim worked in the computer industry, graduating in 1969 from Northwestern with an MBA. His career was in management with Honeywell and Tandem Computers.
He continued in that industry, teaching selling strategies and human resource profiling and computer security advising. Jim was an owner/officer of Groom Industries in Rockford.
Jim was married over fifty years to Sharon (nee Getz) who graduated from Swedish-American Hospital School of Nursing. Their children and grandchildren are Laurie and Steve Poss and Sydney and Caden Poss; Jimmy Lundstrom; Amy and Mike Brock and Owen, Claire and Gavin Brock. His Cairn Terrier dog children, Ludi and Jazz, delighted him every day. He was the number one supporter of his grandkids, never missing a game or performance. He was the very best Papa ever, always loving and supporting the kids.
The Chicago Bears and Cubs gave him lifelong entertainment and he gave them his sustaining loyalty.
He made it possible for his family to travel extensively in Europe and the United States. His sanctuary was the family cottage and boat on Hess Lake in Michigan. He had a generous personality and a good heart.
Jim’s hallmark of excellence was a deep love of music. He was a skilled brass band cornet player. He began in The Salvation Army, and later toured Scandinavia with them. He played in the East High concert and marching bands. He loved Salvation Army music and jazz, especially his idol, Maynard Ferguson. He had an enormous collection of jazz vinyl and CD’s. Frank Sinatra was his favorite vocalist. When Jim entered the house the lights went on, the music started and life swirled all around him. He loved bright colors, the gaudier the better. May the joy he gave never stop.
