James S. Markovitz “Jimbo”, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 13, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
James was born in Chicago, IL on October 9, 1942 to Harry and Ruth Markovitz. James served honorably in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966 in South Korea. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing softball and racquetball, bowling, and snowmobiling. James greatly loved his dogs and Corvette, but he loved his children and grandchildren most of all. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren and would attend every single one of their events. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by his loving children, James B. (Suzanne) Markovitz and Tamara (Paul) Baumgartner; cherished grandchildren, Jacklyn and Grace Markovitz, Carrie Jurkiewicz, Luke, Lindsay, and Matthew Baumgartner, Joshua, Jacob, and Alexis Johnson; nieces, Sandra Erickson, Pamela Gorr; nephew, Robert Farber; as well as many close friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth (nee Steinborn) Markovitz and sister, Lenore Markovitz (Farber).
A visitation for James will be held from 10:30am until the time of service at 2:30pm on Saturday April 17, 2021 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 West Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
