James “Jimmy” Meo was born August 18th, 1939 in Chicago. He died surrounded by his family and holding his loving wife's hand on Sunday, February 14th, 2016.
Jimmy proudly served in the 5th Battalion, 83rd Artillery. He retired in 2004 from IBEW Local 9 after 35 years of service.
He was an avid fisherman and well known on Bangs Lake in Wauconda. Whether he was hauling in the big catch, spending time with family and friends at home, or on his boat, Jimmy was everyone’s friend and was loved by everyone he met.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Esser); siblings, Jenny Kriewaldt (Chuck) and Joseph Meo (Janet); children Suzanne, Ted, Petey (Stephanie), Tracy (Michael), Brian (Brigitte), Timothy (Heidi); his grandchildren Cory and Michael Jr.; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy; brother, Onofrio; and sisters, Frances Mussari and Nancy Scavelli.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 20, from 3pm until the time of service at 7:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte 176), Crystal Lake.
In honor of Jimmy’s love for the Chicago Blackhawks, please wear Blackhawks gear or the team colors to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, Purple Heart Foundation, or Chicago Blackhawks Charities in memory of Jimmy.
