James George Philip

On December 28, 2021, our “Flipper”, James George Philip Jr., 85 years old, lost his life to cancer while under the care of Journey Care hospice in Barrington, IL.

He is survived by many loving individuals including his wife, Gail Bollensen Larson Philip, his children Stephen Philip of Chicago, IL., David “Dusty” Philip (Yesim) of New York, NY, James “Jamie” Philip III (Kiana) of Chicago, IL, Justine (Paul) Ligon of Mendon, VT, his stepchildren Curt Larson of Tucson, AZ, and Guy (Meg) Larson of Barrington, IL.  all his grandchildren: Daniel, Grace, Georgia, Matthew, Thomas, Samantha, Henry, Sam, Jack, Eliza, Casey and Cara, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James George Philip and Bessie Louise Gee Philip of Lake Forest, IL.  And sister Jane Philip Brodie Eisenhour of Iowa City, IA.

Jim was born May 16, 1936, in Highland Park, IL. He attended Lake Forest High School and went on to graduate from Northwestern in 1958.  After serving in the Marines, he began his career in Financial Management at Lehman Brothers for 12 years, and then on to Merrill Lynch for another 28 years.

Jim and wife Gail enjoyed time in Kohler, WI, Naples, FL, and Cashiers, NC.  Jim was an avid fly fisherman and general outdoors man.

Save the Date -Memorial Service will be held on May 14, 2022, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington, IL  60010.  Service will be followed by a luncheon.
