Crystal Lake, Illinois,JIM R. STALO A lifelong resident of Crystal Lake Jim Stalo, age 53, a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake, passed away on December 29, 2010, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Barrington, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 22, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan to Edwin and Martha Stalo. He married Colleen Stalo, nee O?Donnell on May 23, 1981 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake. Jim was a 1975 graduate of Crystal Lake Community High School and an avid athlete, playing football and wrestling. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Construction Engineering. Jim worked for Berger Excavating in Wauconda for 14 years. He loved exercising and keeping in the best physical shape possible. He enjoyed attending his children?s sporting events, including hockey and golf. He also enjoyed boating, golfing, and doing projects around his home. The most important thing in his life was spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Colleen P. Stalo; loving children Kristie (Tommy) Alford, R.J. Stalo, and Scottie Stalo; cherished grandchild Jack Alford and also one on the way; dear siblings Tom (Maria) Stalo, Mary Helper, and Mark (Nancy) Stalo. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Martha Stalo, brother Ricky, and brother in law Gordon Helper. Visitation for Jim will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011, from 12pm until the time of service at 4pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Avenue (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be held on Monday January 3, 2011, 10am, at Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery.
