Services for James C. Thomson, 83, of South Barrington, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, November 9, at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Sunday, November 8, at the Church. Born September 26, 1926 in Miami, FL, he passed away November 5, 2009. He was a man of faith, Bible study teacher, and a long standing member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement. He was an avid reader and a wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor. A veteran of WWII, James was the Chicago brokerage agency manager for Principal Financial Group, and was a proud member of Rotary One, Chicago. He was active in Boy Scouts, receiving the Lamb Award, which is given to adult leaders. He was an Eagle Scout, Cub Pack leader and Boy Scout leader. A life-long bowler, he bowled on teams from 1942 until the present. Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann Thomson, nee Smith; children James C. (Sue) Thomson IV, Judy Campbell, John (Diana), David (Janet), and Alice (Jonathan) Nysse; grandchildren Rebecca (Rob), Elizabeth, Katherine, Timothy, Eliana, James, and Joshua; his brother Donald (Phyllis) Thomson. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charleson Thomson and Alice nee Madsen, and sister Jo Ann Thomson.
