Born July 24, 1954 to James C. and Dionysia (nee Mackrie), he passed away Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 at his home in Lake Zurich.Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie, his sons, Dave (Katy) and Nick Wallace, grandchildren, Callie and Cecilia Wallace, sisters,Jane Wallace, Barbara (Ken Rinderknecht) Wallace, and Dinah (Bruce Nadler) Wallace, niece and nephew, Amanda Schomer and Danny Fitch. He was preceded in death by his parents. It was clear to anyone who knew our dad, that mom was the love of his life and the center of his world. He was the proud parent of both of us who never stopped being the perfect role model, and the most adoring and loving grandfather to Callie and Cecilia.Dad embodied the rare combination of intelligence, creativity, compassion and generosity that allowed him to be a larger than life personality whose charisma charmed everyone, including old ladies and babies as he was known to say. To say his sense of humor and wit were defining characteristics does not do him justice. His unyielding work ethic and desire to grow and learn were lessons he taught us all; whether at the office, reading the dictionary to us after dinner, drafting plans for a future project, or simply researching topics of conversations with friends.Dad was an avid learner who never stopped growing and encouraging others to do the same. Those of you who have met Jim even once know these things to be true.Ours is truly a great loss today, but what we gained from having him a part of our lives will be with us forever.Visitation will be 3-9p.m. with a service at 7p.m. Friday October 21 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake-Cook Road) Barrington, IL.Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jim Wallace Family Education Fund in care of Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main, Barrington, IL, 60010,to be used to create a college fund for his grandchildren.
