Jane Collins

February 15, 1941 — March 1, 2014

Jane L. Collins, 73, rural Woodstock, died Saturday, March 1, 2014.

She was fortunate in large, loving extended family in Washington and Idaho, blessed with good friends, and privileged to have worked with many of McHenry County’s finest citizens committed to protecting its natural resources.

She loved mountains, trees, prairies, lighthouses, cats and all creatures great and small; delighted in and admired the works of E.B. White, Henry Beston, Virginia Eiffert, Rachel Carson, Eliot Porter, Shakespeare, Dickens, Yo Yo, Ma; and found the greatest pleasure in sharing laughter, food and books with friends.

Survived by her loving husband, John, whom she met and married in Nigeria where they were serving in the Peace Corps. It was John who made possible her dream of a rural life. Also survived by her sister, Joan Emehiser, Carson City, Nevada; brothers, Harold Littleton, Spokane, Washington and Glen Littleton, Kansas City, Kansas.

There will be no services held. Any contribution in her memory may be sent to the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, 110 S Johnson St, Ste 106, Woodstock, IL 60098-3259, to the Land Conservancy of McHenry County, PO Box 352, Woodstock, IL 60098, or to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Rd, Barrington, IL 60010.
