Algonquin, Illinois,Cory The visitation for Jane Marie Cory nee Sorensen, 80 of Algonquin, formerly of Chicago will be held on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake Cook Road) Barrington. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Born February 8, 1929 in Chicago, she passed away on November 5, 2009 at her home in Algonquin. Jane Marie was the granddaughter of Soren Sorensen, the founder of the Union Grove Creamery Company in Union Grove, Wisconsin. She was very proud of her Danish heritage and the contribution of her family and other Danes to the economic development of the city of Chicago during the early years following the depression of 1929. Jane Marie married Melvin Donald Cory on September 10 1949, and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage together. She is survived by her daughter,Deborah Jay Cory of Barrington, grandson Mark Cory Fioretto, cousin John (Carol) Sprengel, sister-in-law Erna Gusland, special nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends often referred to as her "angels." She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin and her parents Thorvald Sorensen and Gertrude Sprengel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society, 225 N.
