Janice Beucher Griffith, age 73, passed away on January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with breast cancer. Jan was a beloved mother to Jason (Tiffany), Stephanie (Tom) Marinis, Justin (Catie), and Sandra. Jan was a cherished MomMom (Grandma) to Annabelle, Liz, Tyson, Chloe, Bill, Grace, Stephen, Jimmy, Mary Janice, Nicky, Mikey, JJ, Ellie, and Chase. Jan was the eldest sibling to Greg, Terri (Hugh) Hollister, Edward Jr. (the late Maureen), Beverly, George (Juli), and Trish.
Jan lived in Glenview and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help for grade school. She attended Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart and then transferred to Glenbrook South High School. During her high school years, Jan was an avid horseback rider and even performed in a rodeo for barrel racing. After high school she attended Saint Leo College in Florida where she met Steve. Together, they moved to Louisiana where Jan was an elementary school teacher. Louisiana was where Jan and Steve welcomed their eldest son, Jason, before moving back to Glenview to raise their family. While her kids were young, Jan was very involved at OLPH and volunteered wherever she was needed, often as a substitute teacher. She was involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and created many lifelong friendships through these organizations. After her kids were grown, Jan began working at Loyola University. In her early 50s, Jan moved to Crystal Lake where she started a job at Cary Grove High School working in the computer lab. She eventually ended up at Crystal Lake Central High School where she worked in her favorite location, the Dean's office. Jan had an incredibly generous personality that was filled with love for all people, especially the students who she met in the Dean's office. She loved these students extra because she felt they were the ones who needed the love the most.
After her cancer diagnosis, Jan retired from Crystal Lake Central High School and filled her days with her most cherished role of being MomMom (Grandma) to her beloved grandchildren. She taught her grandkids how to “play hooky” and would spend countless time quilting, crafting, shopping, watching dance recitals & sporting events, babysitting, traveling, and doing many other fun activities. When she was not with her grandchildren, she could be found visiting her much loved nieces and nephews or traveling with her dear friends and cousins around the country and world. Jan was very excited that she got to visit all 50 states and many national parks.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, and parents, Edward Sr. and Patricia Beucher, along with many dear friends.
