Jean Behrens
February 19, 1950 — June 15, 2014
Jean Marie, nee Johnston, Behrens passed away peacefully Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the age of 64.
She was born on February 19, 1950 and raised in Fox River Grove and Cary, IL. Jean had a love for her family, her dogs, and having fun. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas Walter Behrens on January 31, 1970, and they spent 44 wonderful years together in Crystal Lake, IL.
Jean was a cosmetologist and worked for many different salons before opening her own business. Together they started her beauty shop, Head to Toe, in 1985, and ran it for many successful years. She also helped jump-start many other cosmetologists’ careers.
Jean was a loving mother to Jennifer (Glenn) Korhorn and Jeffrey Behrens; and a fun-loving grandmother to Trevor and Tyler. Jean also loved all of her pets, Barney, Cherie, Gi-Gi, Bootsy, Snooper, Tootsie, Dee-O-Gee, Eye-See-You, Ruby, and Pearl. She was a loving sister to Michael (Marie) Johnston and Phillip (Carol) Homola; a dear sister-in-law to Robert (Elizabeth) Behrens and Cindy Behrens; and also a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Johnston and Rose, nee McCarron, Johnston Homola; her in-laws, Robert and Ruby Behrens; her grandparents, Patrick and Rose McCarron; her niece, Nicole Johnston; her aunt, Dr. Margaret McCarron; her brother-in-law, James Behrens; and recently her father, Milan (Mike) Homola.
Jean always had a fun attitude and a smile on her face. She loved traveling, the sun, the snow, relaxing in her pool, her pets, but most of all, her family.
Services will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake, IL on Friday, June 20, 2014 with a visitation from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7:30p.m.
