Jean Ann Stahr, 86, of Barrington, died, Saturday, September 12, 2015, in Barrington.
She was born on February 12, 1929, to Reuben and Helen Bittrick, in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Jean was an active and treasured member of Barrington Hills Country Club for 48 years, and a past ladies' golf Champion. She was also a successful entrepreneur, owing and operating The Little Shop of Papers in Barrington for the past 27 years, and she was a Past President of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago and was a lifetime member of Phi Beta Phi sorority. Jean was also an avid lover of all animals, especially her cat Max of nearly 20 years, as well as the various squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks and other critters that enjoyed her hospitality.
Last but not least, Jean was a tremendously supportive and loving mother, and an outstanding grandmother, generous with both her time and with her love. Although she could possibly speak her mind unequivocally on occasion, Jean shared her wit and good humor with all, and left a trail of laughter and good feelings wherever she went.
Jean is survived by her loving children, Scott (Lisa Kennedy) Stahr and Amy (Ron) Hawking; grandchildren, Cole Hawking and Dana Hawking; and brother, Jack (Nancy) Bittrick.
She was preceded in death many years ago by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Francis L. “Fran” Stahr. She missed Frannie a lot, but made her way on her own.
