Jeanne R. Kelley, a life-long resident of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Good Shepherd Hospital, the former site of Fair Acres, her family’s first farm. She was born on March 10, 1925, to L. Verdelle and Ward Flock in Elgin.
Jeanne attended the original Hough Street School, K-8th grade, and graduated from Barrington High School in 1942. She loved sports of all kinds, appreciated the outdoors and wildlife, and volunteered for Citizens for Conservation. Furthermore, she cherished the many childhood friends who also raised their families in the Barrington area, and she enjoyed the activities and recent friendships that grew with Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA) and the Horizon Senior community. Overall, her greatest happiness came with the raising of her three daughters and watching their families grow.
She is survived by daughters, Linda C. (James) Kemper and Kathleen L. (Mark) Heyse, both of Barrington; her grandchildren, Will (fiancé Carolyn), Leigh (fiancé Jared), and Ward (Jamie) Welch, and Gwen (Ryan) Hiir and Laura Heyse; her great-grandchildren Ellie and Ryan Welch; four siblings, Margot Kramer, Jack (Pat) Flock, LouAnne Majewski, and Dave (Donna) Flock; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her daughter, Rita Kelley, in 2010.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., at Citizens Park Pavilion, Lake Zurich Road, Barrington. Private inurnment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
