Jeffrey Barnes

Jeffrey W. Barnes, 51 of Wauconda, formerly of Cary and Mt. Prospect, died June 27, 2012 in Shingle Springs, CA.

He was born May 10, 1961 in Atlanta, GA to William and Elinor (nee Ricketts) Barnes.

Jeff graduated from John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights in 1979. He received a BA in Finance from Western Illinois University and an MBA from DePaul University. Jeff worked for the Northern Trust Company in Chicago, the Chicago Title Company, and most recently Cosi, Inc. as Director of Internal Auditing.

Jeff loved friends, family, soccer, and boating. He was also very active in his childrens' activities. He served on the Board of Directors for the Cary Soccer Association.

Survivors include his children, daughter Brianna and son Brandon, both of Cary; his former wife Theresa Barnes of Cary; brothers Ralph (Kathy) and Norman (Patricia) Barnes, both of Jefferson City, MO; his aunt Betty and Uncle Ed; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, and one great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Barnes.

Visitation will be held 3-8pm Thursday, July 5 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route176), Crystal Lake. Funeral mass will begin at 11am Friday, July 6 at Sts. Peter and Paul, 410 N. First Ave, Cary, IL with visitation from 10am until the time of the mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Barnes Education Fund, Home State Bank, 40 Grant St, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 for the future education of Jeff's children.
