Jeffrey Mann

October 21, 1943 — June 18, 2014

Jeffrey Joel Mann, 70, of Pingree Grove, died, Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous 16-month battle with Glioblastoma Melforme.

He was born on October 21, 1943, to Walter and Louise Mann in Racine, Wisconsin. The family later moved to Minnesota, where Jeff grew up. At age 17, Jeff joined the United States Navy. After completing his service, Jeff moved to the Chicago area where he met and married his wife, Linda. Jeff worked closely with William Rose and Rose Packing Company in South Barrington for 34 years as Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 2012.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (nee Harford) Mann; children, Anthony (Nikki) Mann and Allan (Wendy) Mann; grandchildren, Logan, Nathaniel and Kaylee Mann; brother, Rodney (Char) Mann; sister, Maureen Maki; sister-in-law, Yoshimi Mann; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Mann; sister, Jacquelyn George and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 4-9p.m., Monday, June 23, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.

Funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E Main St, Barrington, IL 60010, where there will be a second visitation held one hour prior to the service at church.

The family wishes to thank the many Doctors and Nurses from Sherman Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center and JourneyCare hospice, who helped Jeff throughout his illness.
