Jeffrey Robert Sherman of Lake Zurich, IL was born on July 30, 1953 and died on December 14, 2017, at the age of 64 after battling cancer for the past year. He was surrounded by loved ones in the home he shared with his surviving wife, Jenny Mui. He leaves 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren: Karen Conner of North Carolina and her daughter Madison; Kimberly Sherman, husband Michael Tipping and their two boys, Edwin and Emmett of New Jersey, as well as his step-mother Karina Sherman who was amazingly helpful in his final days.
Jeff was proudly born and raised in Somerville, NJ where he will be laid to rest with his parents, George and Mary Ann Sherman, and brother George Sherman III, all preceding him in death. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, from 4:00-8:00pm at Davenport Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL. There will also be a visitation held at Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 US Hwy 206, Hillsborough, NJ, on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm. On Friday, visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home with the burial to follow at Somerville New Cemetery, Somerville, NJ.
Jeff was a shooter, whether it be with a pistol or a camera, he excelled at both. Always looking for the beauty in the world to capture with his camera, he truly loved nature. He traveled a great deal on his motorcycle with his friends, seeing the country around his home, and taking a great deal of amazing photos. His favorite hobbies besides photography were spending time at the range and watching movies at home.
His loved ones would describe him as a kind, generous, loyal, hard-working, technical genius who was passionate about this country and always able to make a pun of any conversation. Gentleman Jeff, as his co-workers call him, worked in IT for his whole career and was the first person most of his friends and family went to for any problems or recommendations; and he would help without question. His love and kindness will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jeff can be made to your favorite charity, Wounded Warriors, or your local law enforcement agency.
