Jennifer Hansen

Jennifer E. Hansen, 37, was born on August 20, 1978 in Chicago to Jerome and Patricia (nee Elterman) DeBord. She passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Barrington.

From the age of 10, Jennifer volunteered her time delivering meals to seniors in her community through the Meals on Wheels program. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need; especially through the PADS organization and Good Shepherd Hospital. She and Doug served on the hospitality committee for school district 220’s speech tournaments for the past five years.

She is survived by her husband, R. Douglas Hansen, whom she married on February 17, 2001 in Barrington; her mother, Patricia “Petey” (Charles, “Chuck”) Elterman; her children, Tyler, Jenna, Kirra and Tessa; and her brothers, Peter (Jenna) DeBord, and Matthew DeBord.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jerome DeBord; her maternal grandparents, Frank and Patrice Glick; and her paternal grandparents, Glen and Velva Frick.

The family will be receiving friends from 10am until the time of service at 11:30am, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at The Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 South Brinker Rd., Barrington Hills. Interment at St. Mary Fremont Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hansen children’s education fund: please make checks payable to Douglas Hansen.

A celebration of Jennifer's life will be held at a later date.
