James W. “Jim” Olson, 69, of Tower Lakes, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Jim was born September 13, 1948 in Clintonville, WI, the son of Wallace B. and Valda Mae “Toots” (nee Schmidt) Olson.
On June 22, 1968, Jim was united in marriage to Patti Vandertie.
Jim enlisted into the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 483rd Security Police Squadron in Cam Ranh Bay. Due to Jim’s outstanding military bearing and fierce dedication to service while assigned to his unit, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant while overseas. Upon his return home, his career was in the tool and die industry as a mechanical engineer.
His favorite time with family and friends was spent in Key West, Florida.
In addition to his loving wife, Patti, Jim is survived by his sister, Sharon (Larry) Olson; and many loving extended family members.
Friends are welcome to visit with Jim’s family on Friday, January 5, from 4-8 p.m. with Air Force military honors beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington. Visiting will continue the following day, Saturday, January 6, from 11: 00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Jim’s Life at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
