James “Jim” Vodak, 79, of Barrington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 27, 2022. He was born on February 13, 1943 in Chicago to James and Helen Vodak.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1968 with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in business and communications. Over the course of his career Jim worked at Illinois Bell, Sprint (Centel) Corporation and the Archdiocese of Chicago. At the Archdiocese he was very instrumental in the arrangements surrounding the consistory for Cardinal George. He also played a significant role in the televised Millennial Mass from Solder Field in June of 2000.
Respect for Jim and his leadership continued throughout his life. Jim shall be forever remembered by all those who interacted with him. In retirement he enjoyed golfing and travelling to Arizona to visit family and friends.
Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Carole (nee Wilk); daughter, Sheryl (Ted Konnerth); sister Lois Heintz, 14 nieces and nephews, grandchildren Jimmie, Michael and Kirsten and daughter-in law Muretta.
He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and James Vodak, his son Jim Vodak and sister Lucille Sebahar.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8 2022 from 10 AM until the 1 PM memorial service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be private.
