Joan Delatorre

Joan M. Delatorre, 67, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at her home in Crystal Lake. She was born Nov. 17, 1942 in Chicago. In 1960 she graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School and was a resident of the Crystal Lake area for more than 53 years. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as an office manager at Interstate Bakeries. She was a devoted Elvis Presley fan, was a member of the Elvis That's The Way It Is fan club of Chicago, and collected Elvis memorabilia. She enjoyed cooking and most of all cherished spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a wonderful grandmother. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Her survivors include her beloved husband, Frank "Ed" Delatorre with whom she enjoyed 45 years of marriage; her loving children, Laura (Richard) Windgassen and Steven Delatorre; her adoring grandchildren, Megan Windgassen and James Windgassen; her dear brothers, Robert (Ann) and Thomas (Linda); and her nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Helen and Joseph and her sister, Carol. The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 25 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 26 at the funeral home. The Rev. David Wilson Zinck will officiate. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her name be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S Hager Ave, Barrington IL 60010-4196 or Elvis Presley Trauma Center, 877 Jefferson Ave, Memphis TN 38103-2807.
