Joan Kremer (nee Devine), 82, of Kankakee joined her husband, the late Robert Alexander Kremer, September 5, 2013. She was born April 26, 1931 in Chicago to James and Margaret (nee Savage) Devine. She grew up in Chicago, married, then resided in Des Plaines and Barrington Park before settling in Kankakee for 25 years. She was a graduate of St. Mel grammar school and Providence High School in Chicago. Joan had a passion for the Arts, convertibles and travel. She enjoyed volunteering for the Mad Cap’s fundraising program at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee, where she also worked as Director of Development.
Joan is survived by her children, Anne (Pete) Brenner, Meg (Mark Sterns) Kremer, Paul (Jennifer) Kremer, Alex (Deborah) Kremer, and Elisa (Dave) Houde; grandchildren, Luke and Brady Lemon, Katelyn, Tyler and Connor Sterns, Ryan Kremer and Monica (Stephen) Milburn, Christopher, Stephen and Alex Kremer, and Madeline, Emily, Norah and Mathew Houde; sister, Susan (nee Devine) Kowalczyk ; brothers, Thomas Devine and Hugh (Elaine) Devine; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Joseph and Stephen Devine.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2013 at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St.(corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington, where she will be lying in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will be private at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
