JoAnn Gastmeyer Boyd, 80, of Barrington, died, Friday, May 22, 2015, in Long Grove.
She was born on August 25, 1934, to Robert and Rose Gastmeyer, in Maplewood, New Jersey.
JoAnn “Happy” has made a home in Barrington since 1976. She was happily married to the love of her life, Jim for 56 years. Happy was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Barrington. She loved the beauty of this earth and in people and lived up to her nickname every day of her life. As a woman of very strong faith, she served as an inspiration to many people as a joyful witness of the love and presence of God.
JoAnn is survived by her loving children, Jim Boyd, Doug (Corinne) Boyd, Tom Boyd, Kathy (Fritz) Handler, and Jennifer (Kalvis) Huns; grandchildren, Jennifer Ahern, Douglas Boyd, Jacqueline Morris, Mitchell Boyd, Gus and Sam Handler, and Lara and Greta Huns; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Lincoln, and Gavin Ahern; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Boyd who passed in 2012; her parents and three siblings.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm, June 13th at First Church of Christ Scientist, 421 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to First Church of Christ Scientist of Barrington.
