Joann Moty, 87, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2021. She was born on July 18, 1934 in Chicago to the late Mary and Joseph Bauml.
Joann graduated Crystal Lake Central High School in 1952, and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Accounting. She was a past president for the American Legion, Post 171, Womens’ Auxiliary in Crystal Lake. She was a chairman for the McHenry County Committee which helped Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign and also a member of the Bicentennial Committee where she helped spearhead the Freedom Train coming to Crystal Lake. Joann was also a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed playing Bridge with her Bridge group.
Joann will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 39 years, Eugene Moty; daughter, Jan (Ivan) Lawson; grandchildren, Ben and Daria Lawson; her siblings, Mary Jo Dietrich, Judy (Larry) Napier and Jim (Linda) Geske. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Frank “Rez” Rezabek III; her step-father, Frank Geske; and her brother, Joseph J. Bauml.
