Hendersonville, NC formery of Troy, NY,A memorial service for Joanne Margaret Kennedy (nee Woodhouse), 83, of Hendersonville, N.C., formerly of Troy, NY, will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13th, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, Illinois, where the family will be receiving friends and family from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Born May 7, 1927, in Troy, NY, Joanne passed away peacefully November 6, 2010 in Barrington Hills, IL at the home of her loving daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Demers Albuck-Barker and Mert Barker. Joanne lived in many places on the eastern coast of America. She made lifelong friends everywhere. Joanne loved the people in Hendersonville, NC, which she was very sad to leave in 2009. She was a long time member of the Hendersonville Garden Club and Beautification Committee. She was especially committed to the Hendersonville Garden Club Horticulture Scholarship Program. Everywhere Joanne lived she was known for her prize-winning flower arrangements. She was an avid reader and a founding member of a book club in Hendersonville whose members she deeply cared for. As an artist, she learned and enjoyed to paint beautiful decorative tin ware, crewel work and other Medieval and Victorian needlework. She always created beautiful homes for her family and worked for a time as a decorator. She was a persistent and knowledgeable student of history, literature, furniture, paintings, and architecture. She loved her trips to Europe. Joanne is survived by her four children, Gail Margaret (Tom) Bisio of Wilmington, DE, Marcia Demers (Mert) Albuck-Barker of Barrington Hills, IL, Bruce (Carmen) Kennedy of Asheville, NC, and Deborah (Dale Larson) Kennedy of San Jose, CA; her seven grandchildren, Troy Albuck, Jessica Ferguson, Sherry Williams, Shawn Kennedy, Shibon Kennedy, Gabriel Bisio, and Evan Larson; her five great-grandchildren, Alex Albuck, Brennan Albuck, Skyler Ames, Damien Ferguson, and CyanWilliams; and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Starrett Clark Kennedy, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Noel Bisio. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010 or Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, 180 W.
