JoAnne H. Lenz

JoAnne Lenz, age 94, of Barrington, IL, passed away on August 11, 2024. She was born in Monroe, Michigan in 1929 and lived a long and full life. She raised a family of nine, served as first lady of Alton, IL for 16 years, traveled the world, and was an accomplished photographer.

In her later years, she lived with her eldest daughter, took up painting, and read voraciously. This past Sunday, on an exceptionally beautiful day, she peacefully returned to God’s embrace. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Thominet, Matthew Lenz, Jeffrey Lenz, Loretta Kruzan, Carolyn Tucker, Barbara Austin, Roger Lenz, Lawrence Lenz, twenty-five grandchildren, and forty-seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul, in 2010, and her son, Stephen, in 1987.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 519 E 4th St, Alton, IL 62002 with a graveside service to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alton.
