Joanne Mary Plescia
March 12, 1926 — March 26, 2022
Davenport Barrington
Joanne Mary Plescia, 96, died Saturday, March 26, 2022 at her home with her family and caregiver by her side.
Joanne was born March 12, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Pietro and Rosa (Carollo) Plescia. She was preceded in death by her two brothers Anthony (Theresa) and Vincent Plescia as well as her niece Terese (Emil) Iverson. She is survived by her sister-in-law Lucille and nephews Peter (Grace), Richard, Jim (Sandee), Michael, Perry (Julie), John (Kristin), Vince (Barry) as well as her nieces Rosanne Chasin (Philip), Michelle Gasinski (David deceased), Antoinette, Rosemary and Gina.
Joanne was a trailblazer for her time. She had her own career which afforded her the ability to gladly care for her mother until her death at 91. She was able to have her own home and enjoy travels to Hawaii, Arizona, and to her ancestors’ home in Italy. In her later years she enjoyed trips to the casinos and played a great game of bingo.
Family meant everything to Joanne. She was Facebook before there was a Facebook! She kept in touch with her immediate as well as extended family. If there was family news, Joanne heard it first.
And she knew how to throw a party! Whether it was in her garage, in her dining room or at Nick’s Pizza, it was always a good time. She especially liked the family picnics.
We are confident Joanne is currently soaring with the eagles.
