Joe Amedeo, long-time resident of Deerfield, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2020 at the age of 98. He was born on August 9, 1922 in Chicago to the late Cosimo and Domenica (nee Quattrocchi) Amedeo.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was united in marriage on June 9, 1951 in Chicago to Joan Collins; this happy union of 69 years blessed them with 1 daughter and 2 sons. They moved to the suburbs of Deerfield shortly after marriage, where they raised their family.
Joe was fortunate to retire at 55 and enjoyed over 40 years of his retirement. A self-proclaimed “Landscaping Guru”, Joe had a knack for landscape design and installation.
Joe will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Joan; their children, Nancy (Scot) Colby of Elk Grove Village; Joe (Trini) Amedeo of Gilbert, AZ; Craig (the late Sue) Amedeo of Lake Zurich; grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Colby and Allison Amedeo; his sister, Marie Mateja, nee Amedeo; many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, September 27, from 10 AM until 2 PM, with military honors to follow at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private.
