Joe Saputo

Joseph “Joe” Saputo, 89, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, April 9, 2018 at Bickford in Crystal Lake.

He was born April 8, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late John Saputo and Rose Caparallie.

Joe was a proud WWII veteran, having served in the US Navy. He came from a family of 13 brothers and sisters. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa and great-grandpa. Joe and his wife, Grace, played Mr. and Mrs. Santa for their family and friends for 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving camping and fishing.

Joe is survived by his children, Kathy (Dennis) Grzelak and Debbie Czerniak; his granddaughter, Nicole; great-grandson, Camden; grandsons; and his best friend and brother, Alex (Loretta) Saputa.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Grace.

The visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Entombment will follow at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles
