Johanna Munday

Johanna Scardino Powers Munday, 65, of Marengo, passed away, March 11, 2014, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 6, 1948 in Chicago to Joseph and Charlotte Scardino.

On October 16, 1976, she married Dale Powers. They were happily married for 22 years before he lost his battle with cancer. Years later she found love again and married Jerry Munday on July 15, 2006.

Johanna was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She turned her passion into a full time career building girls of courage.

Johanna’s family was her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her children; Ryan (Tracey) Powers, Belvidere, and Amy (Scott) Naydenoff, Huntley; step children, Brian (Rebecca Tucker) Munday, Woodbridge, VA, and Emily (Tim) Green, San Antonio, TX. She was a special Nana to Brianna Green, Olivia & Logan Naydenoff, and Kyndall & baby Dempsey Powers, due in September.

Along with her parents, and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Scardino, Jr.

Visitation will be Friday, March 14th, from 4-8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue at 11:30am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30pm on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
