"",John I. “JB” Benson,85, longtime resident of Crystal Lake, born Jan. 6, 1926 in Oak Park, IL passed away Tues. June 21, 2011 in Elgin.
John was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Ethel, loving father of Linda (Frank) Good, Steven (Jeanne), Scott (Maureen), and Curt (Linda) Benson, dear grandfather of Stephanie Lieurance, Bryan Rooney, Sarah, Kristen, Anne, Scott, David, Ashley, Eric, Courtney, Max, and Sam Benson, brother of Elsie Bruns, Jean Golding, and Karen Rager. John is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John opened a tool and die machine shop in 1959, Quality Jig Grinding Inc., he was self-employed until he retired in 1988.
John was an Army veteran, serving in WWII who enjoyed spending time with his family and summers at Jordan Lake, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be Saturday June 25 from 11a.m. until the time of the service at 1p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Rte 176) Crystal Lake. Interment in McHenry County Memorial Park.
