John Cummings

John G. Cummings, 83, of Cary, was born July 15, 1933 in Cary to Gerard and Alice (nee Lowe) Cummings. He passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Woodstock.
John worked at Oak Industries in Crystal Lake for many years, and later retired from Indak Manufacturing in Northbrook. He was a proud Navy veteran and member of the Naval Band aboard the USS Missouri. He was a well-known local trombone player being a member of the Crystal Lake Community Band, the McHenry City Band, the Fireball 8 Dixieland Band, and also a member of the pit band at the Woodstock Opera House for many musicals.
He is survived by his wife, Kay (nee Esselstrom) Cummings; his daughters, Lisa Cummings, Sharon (Jeff) Anderson, and Sandra (Donald) Scott; his granddaughters, Janette Scott, Gwen Scott, and Shelby Anderson; his step-grandson, Daniel Anderson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, George (Betty) Cummings, and Raymond (Wilmar) Cummings.
Per John’s wishes, no services will be held.
