John Cwikla

John Marion Cwikla, 76, of Barrington, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 21, 2014, in Barrington, at JourneyCare surrounded by family.

He was born on October 7, 1938, to John J. and Eugenia Cwikla in Chicago.

John’s passion was his involvement in Northwest Homer Fire Protection District for many years as a paramedic and eventually captain. His hobbies included fishing and woodworking.

John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Margaret “Peggy” Cwikla; children, Beth (John) Dlutowski, Janel Cwikla, Brenda (Paul) Miklasz, and John L. (Margie Levinson) Cwikla; grandchildren, Kendra Cwikla, Mikayla, Makenzie, and McKenna Miklasz; sisters, Joanne (the late Nicholas) Burik, and Judy (Richard) Anderson; and brother, James (Mary) Cwikla; brother-in-law, Kevin Herbinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Herbinson; and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-9p.m., Monday, December 22, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, (Lake-Cook Rd.) Barrington, IL 60010.
The visitation will continue from 9-10:30a.m., Tuesday, December 23, at the funeral home where a procession will form for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela Street (corner of Franklin and Ela Street) Barrington, IL 60010.

Burial will be held privately in the spring at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
