John Dotzler
August 27, 1925 — June 19, 2015
John “Hans” Dotzler, 89, of Barrington, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at home surrounded by family.
He was born on August 27, 1925, to Johann and Maria Dotzler, one of ten children, in Freudenberg, Germany.
Hans and Barbara immigrated to the U.S. in April of 1953. He was a founder of Lightning Metal Spec., owning the business from 1965-2000. He enjoyed nature, fishing, and was an avid golfer. Hans published his life story, which is called “On My Own”.
Hans is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Dotzler; children, Evelyn (Wayne) Hovland, and Frank (Kathy) Dotzler; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Hovland, Brittany (Matthew) Keating, and Connor Dotzler; great grandchildren, Veronica and Gavin Hovland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-8p.m., Monday, June 22, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010.
