Born May 9, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late John Joseph, Sr. and Katherine Eldridge, John passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the age of 83.
John was the marketing manager for the United Methodist Publishing House for 36 years before retiring in 1992 to Homosassa, Florida where he was a ministries coordinator for 10 years with the United Methodist Church. John was proud to hold a lifetime membership to United Methodist Men. He also served in the Korean War in the US Army.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Betty, John is survived by his children, Donna (James) Bartlett, John Jay (Lillian) Eldridge, Kathy (Bill) Erickson, and Jeffrey (Lynne) Eldridge; grandchildren, Brett, Bradley, and Brian Bartlett, Danielle, John, and Vanessa Eldridge, Katie and Chad Erickson, Michael, Samantha, and Daniel Eldridge; great-grandsons, Ethan and Jack; and sister, June Huber.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Barr.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, April 10, at 4:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 236 W Crystal Lake Ave, Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake.
