John Gaines

John M. Gaines,68, of South Barrington, passed away, August 4,2012, in Barrington.

He was born on March 9,1944, to August DeBlanc and Dorothy Gaines, in Chicago.

John graduated from St. George High School in Evanston and attended college at the University of Wisconsin, Plattvillle.  After college John went into the steel business where he worked for almost forty years; starting out as a salesperson and eventually owing his own steel business. 

John loved life and lived it to the fullest. He had a warm and engaging personality, quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was always available to help his family and friends, which he did on many occasions. John was devoted to his family, his smile and jokes will be missed by everyone. He was a loving husband, great father, devoted grandfather and loyal friend. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee McAllister); children, Noel (Kim) Gaines, Megan (Karl) Umbrasas, Melissa (Phil) Bulatek and John Patrick Gaines; grandchildren, Justin, Brendon and Kenny Gaines, and Ryan Bulatek; sister, Suzy (Jay) Keay; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; and brothers, August “Deb” and Patrick Gaines. 

A memorial visitation will be held from 11a.m. until the celebration of mass at 1p.m., August 8,2012, St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St.(corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington, IL.  Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Patricia A. Gaines, in care of Bank of America, 550 N. Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010.

Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the celebration of mass at 1 p.m., August 8, 2012 at St. Anne Catholic Church (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets) Barrington.

Burial will be held privately.
