John W. Glanman passed away on October 7, 2021 in St. Cloud, MN. Born on July 12, 1942 in Hazel Green, IL to Thomas and Myrtle Glanman, John was the youngest of 5 children.
After graduating from Galena High School in 1960, John moved to Chicago where he met his wife, Cora Campbell. They were married on March 15, 1962 and celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing.
John was a pipefitter in Union Local 597. He was initiated into the union in 1964 and retired in good standing in 2005, making him a 57 year-long member.
After his retirement, John and Cora moved to Osakis, MN where he fulfilled a lifelong dream of living on a lake. Although in Minnesota, John's beloved Chicago sports teams were never far from his heart.
John enjoyed having family up to the lake, the 4th of July boat parade, listening to blues music, fishing, and posting jokes on Facebook. He sang silly songs and shared stories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren every opportunity he got. He was known to stockpile candy in hidden places around the house that he sometimes did and didn’t share.
John was a man of strong faith, confirmed by a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents and four siblings, John was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Joseph Glanman.
He is survived by his wife, Cora (Campbell) Glanman; his daughters, Patricia Ann, her husband, Thomas Amidon, 3 grandchildren - Jennifer, Michelle, Hunter and 3 great grandchildren, Antoni, Colton and Whittley; Linda Glendoras, her husband, John Boemer, 3 grandchildren - Reece, Nathan, Stephanie and 5 great grandchildren Caley, Natilee, Evelyn, Charile and Elliott; and Rachel Marie, her husband, Kris Megyery, and 2 grandchildren - Ethan and Oliver; and his grandson, Chase Glanman.
A time of remembrance/celebration will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022. A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 pm until a service at 3:30 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
