John Robert Horcher, 84, of Barrington, formerly of Buffalo Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 27, 2016. He was born in Buffalo Grove, IL on May 18, 1931 to John Francis and Frances (nee Liesberger) Horcher.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Marines. He was a member of the Carpenters Union for over 50 years. He cofounded and ran Horcher Bros. Construction for 45 years with his brother, Joe. John loved to help improve homes for his friends and neighbors and redesigning things in his garage. Most of all, John loved being with his family and spending time with them.
John is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda (nee Johnson); children, Donald (Sharon Zehner), Philip (Mirella Marzocchi), Paul (Lisa), Kevin (Heidi) Horcher, Charlene (Paul) Getz, James (Kirsten) and Andy (Sarah Laughlin) Horcher; step-son, Steven (Claudia) Horcher; grandchildren, Thomas, Ashley, Elizabeth, Christian Horcher, Katie (Ryan) Schultz, Paige, Jessie, Nicholas, Mary, Jacob, Karl, Maximillian, Anne, John, Joshua, Emily, Benjamin and Elsa Horcher; siblings, Joseph Horcher, Evelyn Pelinski and Rosalie Baum.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Florence (nee Reckamp); his siblings, Isabel Herchenbach, Mary Anderson, Viola, Stanley and Julius Horcher; and by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, from 3 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 31, at 10 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets), Barrington, IL. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Buffalo Grove.
