John M. Leverentz, of Crystal Lake, passed away with his loving family at his side on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the age of 90.
He was born April 18, 1925 in Prairie Grove to John and Bertha Leverentz. John was enlisted in the US Army Air Forces from 1943 until 1946. On July 23, 1955 he was united in marriage to Ruth Landis in Crystal Lake.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 786, driving a Ready-Mix truck for 37 ½ years.
John will be dearly missed by his loving daughters, Karen (William) Verstege of McHenry, and Jo Ann (James) Holsten of Crystal Lake; and his cherished grandchildren, Kristen Verstege of Chicago, Leah and Tori Holsten of Crystal Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert and James, Marion Leverentz and Florance Nuhn.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt 176), Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue the following day, Friday, December 11, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Historic Campus, 178 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
