John Matlachowski

John Matlachowski, 63, of Barrington, IL passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022. He was born on April 23, 1959 in Flushing, NY.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 East Main Street, Barrington, IL. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Atonement. Interment will be held privately.

John graduated from Barrington High School in 1977 and became a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Barrington in June 1979. He was hired on full-time in January 1997 and stayed a dedicated member of the department until his retirement in 2018.

John was also an electrician and the owner of Matlac Electric Company. He enjoyed staying very active in the Barrington community and was a member of Barrington Boy Scout Troop 10, Firefighters for Christ, and Lutheran church of the Atonement.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his daily workout routine, even the Burpees, and his weekly runs at Citizens Park with his Bravo Boot Camp friends.

John is survived by his loving wife Jeannie M. (nee Kinsella) Matlachowski, his two sons J.T (Amy Pride), and Joseph (Joey) Matlachowski, his sisters Joan Caldwell and Janet Matlachowski, his nephew Andrew Crane, niece Faith Caldwell, and his grandchildren, Hazel Matlachowski and Liam Starck.

He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Helen LouAnn (nee Huber) Matlachowski, and his granddaughter Riley Matlachowski.
